Candidate Statement
As a lifelong resident of Astoria, I have been proud to represent the 36th District in the Assembly since 2011. I have worked extensively as a legislator and staunch community advocate, committed to protecting survivors of violent crime, making quality education accessible and affordable for students, and promoting common-sense policies to protect New York's natural resources. I currently serve as Chair of the Assembly's Ethics and Guidance Committee, Co-Chair of the NYS Legislative Ethics Commission, and a member of the Assembly's Committees for Banks, Energy, Judiciary and Ways and Means. I have passed legislation to provide access to prenatal care for all pregnant women, aid seniors and people with disabilities in lowering housing costs, ensure timely testing of rape kits, expand clean energy options, and support small businesses. I am running for re-election so I can continue to fight for women and families, students, seniors, small businesses and the environment.
