1. What is the most important issue in Council District 24 you would address if elected?

Protecting middle class families is the most important issue in the 24th Council District and across New York City. The cost of owning a home and renting an apartment are rising, a college education is becoming unaffordable and the deck seems stacked against ordinary people. When we've needed an advocate, I've been there -- as a lawyer, community leader and Assemblyman -- and I will continue to fight for us in the City Council so that every family has a fair shot at success.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Building good neighborhoods starts with a quality education for all our children, in every school. Something is wrong when the majority of New York City public high school graduates require remedial classes before attending college, and when parents have to choose between paying their mortgage and honoring their religious beliefs.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

The City faces enormous challenges at a time when virtually all of City government will be new next year -- a new Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, and nearly half the City Council. We need experienced, tested leaders who will fight for our community. With my prior public experience and record of accomplishments, I'm confident that I can meet these challenges.
