06/19/2020

The New York City Voter Assistance Advisory Committee (VAAC) will hold a virtual public hearing on Wednesday, July 1, to hear testimony from New Yorkers about their experience voting in the June primary election that's now underway.

The COVID-19 pandemic drastically altered the voting landscape in New York and across the country. The VAAC invites New York City voters to share their experiences casting a ballot in this extraordinary election. NYC Votes staff will discuss potential recommendations to improve the voter experience with mail-in ballots, early voting, and in-person voting on Election Day.Testimony from the hearing will be collected by NYC Votes staff and shared with the NYC Board of Elections.

The meeting will be held virtually from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Details about how to tune into the hearing will be distributed in a subsequent advisory. To RSVP to provide testimony, or to submit written testimony, please email soleary@nyccfb.info.

The Voter Assistance Advisory Committee consists of nine members who advise the NYC Campaign Finance Board and its nonpartisan voter engagement initiative NYC Votes. The committee recommends legislative and administrative changes to improve NYC elections.
