Guide to the Primary Election – Tuesday, September 13, 2016

On September 13th, registered members of the Conservative, Democratic, Reform, Republican and Women’s Equality parties will vote in state and local primaries.

The Campaign Finance Board has partnered with MapLight to bring you information about the candidates in these races through its Voter’s Edge NY online voter guide. MapLight is a nonpartisan research organization that reveals money’s influence on politics, and Voter’s Edge was initially launched to shine a light on the funders behind ballot measures in California. It has since expanded to provide comprehensive coverage on federal, state, and local elections in California, Illinois, and New York.

Voters living in City Council District 17 and registered in the Democratic Party will also be choosing a candidate to run for City Council. District 17 includes the neighborhoods of Longwood, Hunts Point, Concourse, Crotona Park, Melrose, Morrisania, Mott Haven, North Brother Island, Port Morris, and Soundview. The seat was temporarily filled by a special election this past February.

This Voter Guide provides profiles and video statements provided by the candidates in District 17. The videos will be aired on BronxNet during the week before the election. You can find BronxNet on Cablevision channel 67, Verizon FiOS channel 33, or on bronxnet.tv.
