Meeting Recap: CFB Issues Public Matching Funds Payment to One Candidate, Approves Rules

06/10/2021

The NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) approved a public funds payment to one candidate in the 2021 election cycle during a public meeting held this morning. A video recording of today's meeting is available on the CFB's Youtube channel.

City Council District 28 candidate Ruben Wills received $64,144 in public matching funds following the CFB's decision to grant a 7-09 petition challenging a prior decision of non-payment. This brings the total public funds paid to candidates in the 2021 elections to $95,729,574.

In addition, the Board voted to adopt the final rules related to expenditures made for the purpose of furthering a candidate’s selection as Speaker of the City Council.
