CFB Issues Public Funds in City Council Special Election

At today's public meeting, the New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) issued public funds payments to three campaigns in the special election for City Council District 45; issued new proposed rules for public comment; recognized seven campaigns from the 2017 elections that have completed the audit process without committing violations; and, determined that three campaigns committed campaign finance violations and assessed penalties. The Board voted to issue public funds payments to candidates in a special election for City Council District 45:
- Monique Chandler-Waterman - $135,375
- Farah Louis - $135,375
- Adina Sash - $69,411
The Board voted to issue proposed rules for public comment. The proposed amendments to the Board rules cover disclosure, contributions, expenditures, public funds payments, disclosure of independent expenditures, and various other aspects of the New York City Campaign Finance Program. These amendments are being made to clarify and update content to help support public understanding of, and compliance with, the Board rules. The proposed rules also include minor plain language revisions and reorganization of text.
The Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed rules at 1:00 p.m. on June 13, 2019. The hearing will be in the Board’s offices at 100 Church Street, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10007. The deadline to submit written comments via email or online about these proposed rules is June 12, 2019.
Completed Audit Process Without Violations or Penalties Assessed by Board (2017 Elections)
Starting with the 2017 election cycle, the Board is recognizing campaigns that completed the post-election audit process without any violations or penalties assessed by the Board. At today's meeting, the Board applauded the following candidates and their campaign staff for their diligence in running a campaign that maintained compliance with NYC's campaign finance law.
